Tuesday switch-up

Hey everyone!

So after a network debacle, I thought I'd be able to get a blog post up, but my head is trying to murder me and my eyes are not cooperating, so I'm switching the Saturday and Tuesday posts around. The movie post will be up on Saturday!

In the mean time, here's my current obsession:

Tome Thursday: Lover Revealed

Hello everyone!

What can I say ... I'm on a vampire reading binge, yet again.

I would apologise but in all honesty these books are SO good that I don't feel like any apology is even necessary. And if you haven't yet started reading the series, what ARE you waiting for?

Seriously, you're not getting any younger here.

But I digress; I have a few more books in my little sheep ledger to go through, only they've kind of taken a backburner while I move through the first few in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series yet again. Every once in a while, I get literally bit by this urge to go back to where it all started, with the original Brothers, and compare them to where they are now.

It's truly something to see, considering book number ... fifteen, is it? Yeah, book number fifteen in the main series is about to come a-knocking, and I'm still just as much in love with all these vampires as I was when their numbers were fewer.

And so, of course, feeling that irresistible itch, I picked up my trusted electronic copies, and settled on talking about another favourite of mine: Butch O'Neal.

Talkie Tuesday: Jason Bourne

"Jesus Christ, that's Jason Bourne!"

Hello everyone!

After the blockbuster review from last week which had to do with Star Trek and everything beyond the final frontier, I'm back to slightly more realistic waters.

Well, realistic is a subjective term, either way.

However, I have always been and probably always will be a huge fan of stories which focus on intelligence agencies and their agents around the globe, which is probaby why I haven't yet given up on this Jason Bourne ship, although to be perfectly honest I have never and will never be a complete fan of the movies.

My reasons?

See, I've read the books. And as complex as they are (obviously impossible to bring to the big screen in any kind of coherent way in just a few movies) they are SO much better than the movies could ever be.

But I digress. I said I haven't given up on the Bourne ship yet.

The reason for this is mostly that I enjoy watching Matt Damon act.

Tome Thursday: On the Line

Hello everyone!

I've been slacking a bit in my reading (with new books, that is) and going back to some of my old school favourites because every once in a while, I feel like I might enjoy them a bit more than anything remotely new and exciting, despite the fact that I still have a list about half a mile long when it comes to this stuff.

That being said, however, I DID read a couple new books while I was at it, but not recently which means I had to go and find some little tidbits in other venues of what I remember from it all.

Once again, my attention was captivated by the firefighters in Kathryn Shay's novels, and as I had already written a blog post about the first book in the Hidden Cove firehouse series, I figured I might as well continue right along with the second one.

Although to be fair - I still really, truly prefer Mitch Malvaso's storyline. I think it might have a lot to do with the fact that his was the first story I read as opposed to anything else, but the others in his family just didn't really strike so deep within me that I would connect with them quite as well. Then again, maybe all I need is another read, who knows?

Anyway, off we go to write about On the Line!

Talkie Tuesday: Star Trek Beyond

"This is where the frontier pushes back."

Hello everyone!

Back after my week-long break, and I'm feeling quite happy with how everything turned out. I settled what needed settling, finished some of the things that had been bugging me for a while, and also managed to get a good, big chunk of my fanfiction written, as well.

And  with 'big chunk' I mean roughly 110 Word pages, which I suppose in a standard reading format would be around 220-230? Somewhere around there, but I still need to finish up.

I kind of left it for another time, though, as it's all about the funerals and leave-takings and whatnot, and I didn't want to end on a super sad note!

So today I'm back with a movie review of a movie I'd seen a while back but never actually got to writing a review about. They had a thing here on TV where they aired Star Trek first, then it was Star Trek: Into Darkness, and then I decided why not round it all up and finish with the latest of the lot, Star Trek Beyond?

After all, I'd seen the trailers and LOVED it.

I didn't love the finished product any less, either.

Saturday Snippet: Writing

I will be going through a backlog of writing this coming week which I want to focus on, so there won't be any new blog posts until February 14th!

Tome Thursday: The Bane Chronicles

Hello everyone!

A good friend of mine, who is just as much a devout Shadowhunter fan, convinced me I need to go back and sit to the second trilogy in the Mortal Instruments series, which is how I remembered, because I'm like that, that I had never, in all actuality, finished reading the collection of short stories concerning Magnus Bane.

THAT kicked me into super high gear, because Magnus might just be one of my all-time favourite characters, and coupled with Alec Lightwood it's easy to figure out just why I like him so much.

But he's quite likeable of his own accord, too!

Anyway, I first got into Cassandra Clare's books on a whim after starting Shadowhunters, and deciding I wanted to know more about this world of hers.

Then I realized I'd already read some of her things, those hilarious short diary entries about Lord of the Rings characters, and I fell with gusto on her original writings. I have to say I've enjoyed the lot of them so far even though it shows they were written for YA.

Some of the teenage stuff that happens in the books is ... well.

But with Magnus, there's a whole OTHER set of problems!
