Talkie Tuesday: Disney Princess Villains Unite

"Evil is here.

 Hello everyone!

In continuing with last week's theme, we're taking a look at the direct sequel to the Castle Quest animated feature.

And before you come at me after you open the thing up and see its short length: I wanted to feature it solo because I thought it's hilarious, ok?

Even though it's barely half what the OG special is long.

But anyway.

The Disney Princesses are back, people! And so is Gaston.

And they've got a new adventure ahead of them, or perhaps misadventure, so without further ado let's see exactly what they're up against.

Because you just know it's gonna be great when it says the title is Villains Unite!

Links to previous related posts can be found at the bottom of the page, as per usual.

As said, Villains Unite picks up literally almost exactly after Castle Quest leaves off, with our heroines, Snow White, Moana, Ariel, Tiana and Rapunzel living in the castle they liberated from Gaston and currently busy preparing baskets for the villagers, because every castle has a village that serves it, of course.

Snow White and her axe (still don't ask) are on their way to said village to get some peaches, because no apples allowed to be added to these gift baskets, when they realize that the marketplace is closed ... because of a bog monster.

Apparently, there's a monster on the loose and people are terrified, but before Snow White can do anything about it, Gaston enters the scene with Sir Hiss by his side.

Listen, the second they added Sir Hiss into the lineup, I was ALL. IN. The snake is amazing LOL!

They're waiting on others to join them, because Gaston has a plan to retake the castle from the princesses, and sure enough his reinforcements arrive: Jafar, Ursula, and the Evil Queen, because apparently no one in Disney ever really dies, and Jafar's lamp has an extended chain he can be on or something.

They immediately start squabbling, and Snow White rushes back to the others to tell them what she's seen. The Mirror says they might need some help and brings in reinforcements of their own: Aurora, Cinderella and Belle.

Together, the princesses head down to the village square to confront the villains (who haven't been able to do one team building exercise because Gaston basically really sucks as a leader), and a fight ensues.

This comes to a stop once Chernabog shows up, aka the bog monster.

Once it becomes clear the thing is absolutely not Team Gaston and will pulverize whatever's in its way, the villains get out of there so fast they leave skidmarks. Sir Hiss attempts reasoning, and it doesn't end well. The princesses know the only way to defeat the monster is to expose it to sunlight, which makes it weak, but with night falling that seems like a bit of a draw.

They tell Gaston they can work together and figure this out, but of course Gaston doesn't want THAT, and ends up bog chow.

In the end, our girls divide and conquer and use Rapunzel's glowing hair for their source of sunlight, amplifying it with mirrors, to turn the monster into a cute little bat.

Thus, the villains vanquished and the monster destroyed, the villagers can now return, the princesses finish their gift baskets, and each gets a little nook of their own in the village to help out with, be it a store or other work - well, except Aurora, who falls asleep cuddling the bog bat, despite assuring everyone she hasn't slept a wink since being woken from her curse!

Short, sweet and to the point, this is a cute follow-up to the first special, and I hope there might be more eventually, even though it's been years. Because there's plenty to explore with the princesses, their characterization when all together is a hoot, and honestly?

Even just half an hour of laughter and amusement is better than nothing!

Absolutely recommend.
