Hello everyone!
I read so many books that cover so many different topics, so many genres (not counting horror because that's the ONE thing I don't usually touch), that it's almost overwhelming sometimes.
Which is why I'll be looking for a reading cleanser, so to speak, and land on something like this.
It's not exactly what's the usual cup of tea on the blog, I'll give you that.
It is, however, wildly entertaining.
And to be perfectly honest it somehow manages to keep getting more plot-heavy with every single book that you read in this weird series?
I'm not entirely sure how it happened, but here we are.
We're about to head right back into the hands of the Irish mafia, and we'll be having Dinner with Daddy.
Dinner with Daddy follows after Dance for Daddy, which was mostly smut and not much plot, but this one reveals more on the plot-ty side of things.
Brianna finds her boyfriend in bed with his stepmom, and gets threatened to within an inch of her life, because said stepmom and guy are plotting to remove the dude's father, Bard, from his position in the Irish mob so Connor can take over.
Running from them, Brianna crashes into none other than Bard himself in a car accident, and she blurts out everything, because she calculates that her best bet is the mafia guy she knows rather than the wannabe who's trying to become one.
Taking her under his protection, Bard outfits her for dinner with the boss, the Dagda, where he reveals what's happening - and also, that he's wanted Brianna from the moment he first saw her.
This last only for her, mind you, not in front of the entire table.
He takes her to a safe house where he'll hide her away until the situation with Connor is dealt with, and we get to see more about their backstories, her shitty dad who keeps racking up gambling debts, his marriage for an alliance with the Greek mafia which is why he's currently with his cheating wife, the works.
Oh, and, also, how he wants to put a baby in Brianna so that she's the mother of his new son.
There's a lot of on-page sex that follows, but on the tail end of it, we get Connor calling Brianna asking for a fast-acting poison, revealing how he plans on getting rid of his dad, and the only way to do so would be at the man's fortieth birthday.
So, the new couple plans, making sure Bard has enough active charcoal in his system he might outlive just about anything ... then shit hits the fan.
Connor tries to shoot him, Brianna tugs on his hand so that he shoots Bard's wife instead, then lies through her teeth to say Lyra's pregnant and was acting out of concern for the baby, which leads to a stalemate until the woman drinks that poisoned drink and everything goes to hell yet again.
Bard takes control of the situation, telling the true story behind everything, his wife unfortunately passes from the poison, and Connor gets sent to a special prison the mobsters keep around for delinquents and resident bad pieces to both know where they are and keep them out of the way.
Then it's happily ever after with Brianna finishing her nursing degree, marrying Bard, and having his son, pregnant with twins by the end of the book when they take him to his first day of school.
Contrary to the first one, Dance for Daddy, this has a little more meat to its plot bones like I said, which I found surprisingly refreshing.
There's still PLENTY of smut, don't worry lol, and honestly? All these mafia boys thinking they're all that, while in reality it falls to their fathers to properly take care of the women in their lives is pretty funny, and entertaining to read.
It's definitely something to take your mind off other things, and yes, the sex scenes are smoking hot.
Read at your own risk for the kinks and other warnings listed at the beginning of each book.
I, for one, am enjoying this light-hearted reading romp.
