Tome Thursday: Deeper than Black

Hello everyone!

Tonight, I'm bringing you a very special ARC.

Mostly because I feel super lucky that the author (who's stupendously lovely, by the way) reached out to me in the first place, asking if I'd like to have a look-see through her debut novel.

Um, where do I sign my soul away???

Opportunities like these didn't exist when I was first starting on my reading journey all those years ago, so now to HAVE them means I'm going to snatch them up just as fast as I can!

So I said yes, of course. Duh.

And embarked on the journey.

It took a little bit - the book has some heft to it! - but it was one hell of a ride, and I'm about to explain parts of it to you, but more importantly, I'm going to urge you to get a copy of this book as soon as you can. Yes, it's THAT good.

Without further ado, grab your diving gear, we're going under in Deeper than Black!

Tome Thursday: Wave Song

Hello everyone!

Welcome back.

Tonight, we're taking a brief look at how it all began.

See, I tend to do these things in the correct, chronological order to the best of my abilities.

Unfortunately, however, I didn't even know there WAS something to read before the main books of the series until the last one of said series was published.

I know, I know. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME.

Anyway!

Since it's really starting to pick up in terms of heat waves here, it's time to head under the sea to cool off a little. And it's time we meet the two individuals who basically started it all, when you look at it that way.

The waves are calling, and we'll answer, in Wave Song.

Talkie Tuesday: The Apothecary Diaries Pt 2

"Be wary of everyone."

Hello everyone!

Back again with the continuation of previous week's blog post, because in all honesty, you didn't think I'd leave you hanging now, did you?

Of course not.

This particular story is ongoing, and hasn't actually even had all of its storylines adapted yet, not to mention the episodes have yet to all air on Netflix where I watch it, but we DO have the full first segment of it released, and are now eagerly awaiting season two to drop.

So while we're doing that, let's just ... go through what the shenanigans of season one have been so far, shall we?

Because when you've got a eunuch, an apothecary, some concubines, not to mention random people trying to pull off heists of a lifetime, you're bound to be in for a whole lot of fun.

Without further ado, we're diving straight back into The Apothecary Diaries.

Tome Thursday: Claimed by the Undead

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the beautiful beginning of a brand new series on this blog.

I say this quite confidently, as I'm reasonably sure that the couple whose story we're covering in this particular book WILL return for SEVERAL more books, not just one or two more, which makes me all giddy and excited!

C. L. Carhart is an author I've been following since very randomly picking up Gift of Fire over on Booksirens, and I have to say I haven't been disappointed yet.

She writes magnificently well, and as I'm currently slowly making my way through His Name Was Augustin series - with gusto and much enjoyment, taking my time - I can definitely say that each new book seems to get better than the last.

So without further ado, let's jump right in, shall we?

We're headed to the 19th century with a brilliant witch of light and the undead Black Priest who claims her as his consort, which unleashes a whole host of problems ... in Claimed by the Undead.

Talkie Tuesday: The Apothecary Diaries Pt 1

"Be wary of everyone."

Hello everyone!

Welcome back.

I'm apparently on an anime kick recently, but don't worry, there's going to be something else making its way onto the blog soon enough.

I just have to get through this first haha!

It's what happens when I'm bored and randomly browsing Netflix, allowing the streamer to choose suggestions for me based on what I'd already seen and liked.

And seeing that I rather enjoyed My Happy Marriage, I figured tonight's topic of choice could be something equally nice to watch.

Turns out, it's more than just that - it's full-on entertaining and hilarious, while also weaving a rather complex plot in the background!

So without further ado, strap in, because we're heading back to Imperial Japan with The Apothecary Diaries.
