Tome Thursday: Alluring in Autumn

Hello everyone!

I almost forgot about the blog today. Oops.

I've been so busy trying to keep up with everything that's suddenly popped up now that spring's officially here that it's actually laughable how much I manage to forget, even though I make detailed lists.

At this point, my lists have lists!

But anyway.

Tonight's blog post is another fairy tale re-telling, which I went through a period of devouring everything I could possibly get my hands on for a bit.

I will say that I never really branched out too far from the popular favourites, however, so The Ugly Duckling is a story I recall only vaguely, and I kind of had to immerse myself in it again to fully be able to understand some of the nuances of this story.

It's not necessary, however, that's just me being pedantic. This book can very well be read on its own! So why don't we have a look at it?

Alluring in Autumn - me wildly missing the seasons here - is up next.

Talkie Tuesday: Hogwarts Legacy

"Magic is no different than any power. What really matters is the one who wields it."

Hello everyone!

I promise, by this time next week there WILL be another movie review waiting, but I just finished watching a gameplay on Youtube from one of my favourites, Trev Martin, and I couldn't just not talk about it.

I'll admit, however, that I was wary going in.

I mean, Harry Potter was a successful franchise, and so too were Fantastic Beasts until people started complaining and other outside scandal erupted which certainly didn't help matters along.

Then, let's not forget the horrible would-be continuation of Cursed Child which I still pretend to this day doesn't exist (I swear if they actually make a movie we'll know it's just a cash grab, because there are FAN FICTION STORIES out there better than that drivel!).

So all in all, not an auspicious beginning, and honestly? I dragged my feet a little to start watching, but you get sucked in easily enough, and I've started my second watch via Nic's channel by now.

Without further ado, let's get our wands at the ready, shall we?

Hogwarts Legacy needs us to step up our game.

Tome Thursday: Adagio

Hello everyone!

And welcome to tonight's spectacular performance, I should say.

Our book is yet another choice by BookSirens, because I can't seem to keep away from the site, and there are just SO MANY good ARCs to be found and read!

Plus, considering most have a read time of 60 to 90 days, what could be better?

You usually get less time when you check a book out of the library!

Which means I tend to putter and browse around there quite often, and I think tonight's book was suggested to me through an email once, but I didn't actually get to it before I found another from the same author, read that one first, fell in love with their style of writing, then backtracked to the original I had.

I know, super unoriginal of me.

BUT I finally got round to reviewing it on the blog, so let's not waste any more time.

The stage calls, and the slippers are getting antsy in Adagio.

Talkie Tuesday: The Winchesters

"Fate is what you make it.

Hello everyone!

I know, I know.

I've really been slacking in the movie department this spring time. I know it VERY well.

Problem is, there's just SO MUCH GOOD STUFF happening all over, whether it be on television or in the gaming industry, that it's hard to stay focused solely on what's on the big screen.

... come to think of it, I should probably do Top Gun and its sequel at some point, considering just how many times those have been watched in this household.

But that's beside the point.

I'm reviewing the first season of a really, really cool show tonight. Fans of Supernatural may know exactly what I'm talking about, but it's not actually Supernatural.

It's what happened BEFORE Supernatural - because everybody has to start somewhere, right?

Well, so did The Winchesters.

Tome Thursday: Faking Love with the Billionaire Boss

Hello everyone!

I hope you'll be just as excited about this week's book selection as I am, because I've read it twice by now and I cannot WAIT to get it in paperback edition.

I'm circling back to my one true love, books written by Serenity Woods, as you can imagine.

The great thing about finding an author who you genuinely enjoy as much as I enjoy reading Ms Woods' books is that, if you're extremely lucky, they may be writing and writing and writing, and you know you have SO many more books to look forward to in future!

Take this one, for example.

It wraps up a tentative trilogy - though I don't think it was initially planned that way - while also introducing us to the hero of the NEXT trilogy starter, all in one go.

Not to mention it features all of our favourites from the first two books as well as my absolute favourite characters of them all, really.

So enough about me just chattering about this, and let's just get on with it, shall we? Our choice tonight is Faking Love with the Billionaire Boss.

Talkie Tuesday: Magic Mike's Last Dance

"Dance seeks no meaning for its desires.

Hello everyone!

So in case it isn't obvious yet, or has not yet become obvious, I'm a bit of a softie.

Aka, you can probably get me to do just about anything you might want IF you're close enough to me and we're good enough friends for you to try it on for size.

This past end of the week, one of my best friends messaged me about going to the cinema.

Now, ordinarily, I'm all for it, and it's never an issue. However, I've been in this situation before and ended up going to see the first 50 Shades of Grey movie.

I kind of figured it had to be something along those same lines, and I was partly right.

Seeing as I do consider myself a good friend, however, and because I really did need to get out of the house (my sister was home to babysit the parents, as I like to call it, though really all they did was watch a movie themselves), I agreed to go. And it wasn't bad!

I do have thoughts, but it wasn't too bad. I was taken to see Magic Mike's Last Dance; and if you know me, then you know that I don't usually watch movies like this.

Tome Thursday: Gift of Stone

Hello everyone!

I return to the land of Teutonica, if I remember the correct name, or more importantly, to the land of witches in Germany, Austria, potentially Czech Republic and roundabout there in the Central European area.

C.L. Carhart is an author I didn't know before I picked up Gift of Fire a couple of weeks ago, but I'm happy to say that I'm intrigued enough now to wish to continue.

Particularly as I'd still really like to understand some of the rules of this magical world!

More importantly, however, I think that the author just writes really, really well.

I'll talk more about that down at the bottom, the way I would normally do it of course, but the thing is that when you read as much as I do, there's just no chance of NOT running into bad writing every once in a while. That just makes actual good writing something to really hold on to.

But enough of this blabbering nonsense from me.

It's time to check our magic gauges again, in the next book of the series: Gift of Stone.

Talkie Tuesday: Walker Independence

"Welcome to Independence."

Hello everyone!

Back to the Wild, Wild West we go!

Ahem lol.

So a little bit back I had the randomest post mentioning this show while it was on its break, and since then it's not only returned BUT it concluded it's first season, to roaring success as far as I'm concerned.

Not only did they somehow manage to get the perfect cast for the job at hand, but the writing was also on point from the first to the last episode.

The fact is, it seems to be the only show centered around the old West on television right now, so despite the restructuring over at The CW - and all the rather sad news coming from that with the cancellations and whatnot - viewers are generally hoping this one gets renewed.

I mean, from what I've been able to gather, nobody wants MORE unscripted programming and golf.

But enough with that nonsense. It's cowboy hat time in Walker: Independence.

Intermission: In Defense of Damsels in Distress

Hello everyone!

Tonight's post is something a little bit different - and I REALLY hope you enjoy it. Because for the first time ever, we have a guest post.

That's right!

This past Thursday, I put up a review of The Shadow of Theron, written by Kathryn Troy, and she's very graciously agreed to write a short guest post for this little corner of the internet. We chose what we hope is going to be a great topic for discussion, so without further commentary from me, let's jump right in, shall we?

Take it away, Kathryn!

Tome Thursday: The Shadow of Theron

Hello everyone!

When I started this blog, what now feels like ages ago, I never would have imagined that I'd someday find myself in a position where I would be talking to AUTHORS and discussing potential guest posts and reading their ARCs and whatnot.

It's an incredible honour and privilege, and I honestly don't know what I ever did to deserve it.

But here we are, with yet another ARC, and a good one, too!

A little bit ago I started chatting with a lovely author, Kathryn Troy, who just released her latest book, the one we're talking about tonight.

I was very intrigued by the blurb about it - perfect for fans of Wheel of Time and Sarah J. Maas, it said - and if it's a fantasy book? Chances are, I'm going to read it, because fantasy is how I got my kickstart into this whole reading business.

So I did read it.

I liked it, too.

I bet you're wondering when I'll stop blabbing and get on with it, so here we go: The Shadow of Theron, book one!
